No. While both Direct Primary Care and Concierge Medicine offer improved and personalized care by allowing doctors to have a smaller panel size, concierge practices bill insurance in addition to charging a membership fee. Direct Primary Care charges a membership fee but does not bill insurance at all for primary care services.

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is an excellent value. While insurance pays for a portion of care in the traditional model, there are many out of pocket costs which ultimately accumulate, especially for patients with high deductible insurance plans. Many of these costs are included in the DPC membership fee and are disclosed up front. Also, with superior same day and next day availability for urgent issues, there is a decreased need for use of urgent care, reducing healthcare costs. Lab testing and imaging are available at significantly reduced cash rates providing further savings.
-
While insurance is not necessary for DPC membership, we do recommend insurance coverage or participation in a health share ministry in case of serious illness or injury requiring hospitalization, major surgery, or other specialized care. Insurance is also helpful if specialist referrals are necessary or if expensive medications are needed for chronic condition management.

We do not bill insurance or present a bill for insurance reimbursement for primary care services including in office lab draws. If you have an insurance plan, you can still use this to pay for medications from the pharmacy and specialist visits. We provide steeply discounted cash prices for labs and imaging however you may also use insurance coverage for these services if you chose.

Yes, we treat children of all ages from newborn to 18. Home visits (within a 10 mile radius) during the newborn period are free with membership. While it is our goal to provide our own pediatric vaccines in future, we are not currently able to administer vaccines in office for children. We can coordinate administration of vaccines for children 0-5 at a different medical practice at no additional cost. Vaccines for older children 6-18 can be done through the pharmacy (price not included with membership fee).

Use of HSA money for DPC memberships is unclear. Given the complexity of this issue, we recommend discussing this with your accountant.
